  1. I belive not everyone can get the " american dream" because some people are so poor that they don't have a home and can't buy food. In other words the " american dream" doesn't exist for some people

    1. I disagree and belive people are put in situations, but they can chose to stay there or get a better life. They have to then work to gain there American dream, but it is obtainable for them.

    2. I agree with Kayla I don't think the american dream is available for everyone, and I think it is easier for wealthy white Americans to achieve it.

    3. I agree, because not everyone will be born in a family that has a lot of money that can get them into a college.

    4. I agree with Kayla because in our Capitalist society, it takes money to obtain most things. Without the means, there is no way to achieve the American dream. I disagree with Kyle because often people do not have to choice to get out of a situation and "get a better life". Things happen all the time that are out of people's control and impact their lives negatively. It is not their choice. Without the means, people cannot survive and, obviously, cannot obtain their American dream. Unfortunately, money rules this world and without it people cannot get very far.

  2. I believe that the American dream is obtainable for everyone. I believe this because first off, everyone has there own standerds for an American Dream. So, this makes everyone dream different. I also believe that, everyone has the opputunity to work and gain the things they want in life. Every American has the ability to reach the American Dream.

  3. Based on these picture I don't think that the american dream is available for everyone. In the pictures it shows white people and it looks like they all have a good amount of money. So I don't think the american dream is available for everyone.

  4. I believe that the American Dream is reachable for anyone. I believe if you set your mind to something you can achieve it. Everyone can have their own American Dream and do what they want to reach it

  5. I don't believe the American dream is available to everyone. I believe this because not everyone has the money or the position to get to the job they want. Many people will work minimum wage jobs their whole life.

    1. I disagree, I feel like if you have a reasonable dream then it can be achieved if you put in time and effort. You may work a minimum wage job, but that doesn't mean you can't save what you earn and eventually get what your "American Dream" is.

    2. In the pictures the people all have things that require money to own. like a house or the car.

    3. I believe that despite where you start you make your own dream. People who strive for the better things in life can get there.

  6. I feel that the American dream is obtainable for anyone. If you put in work to achieve your "American Dream", then it is possible. You have to put in effort to get what you want just like anything in life. It may be hard to reach if you have high goals, but i still think anybody can do it.

    1. I agree, I believe the american is achievable for everyone because all you have to do is work hard for what you want and even though you may make minimum wage it gives you more opportunity for growth toward your goal of reaching the American dream.

  7. I feel like the American dream is available to everyone who is willing to work for what they want. Things in this country aren't just handed to people and if you really want something you have to get up and get it yourself.

    1. I agree with Grace, If you are willing to work for something, then it is achievable. You shouldn't expect people to just hand things to you if you don't put forth any effort.

  8. I feel like the american dream is available to everyone. In the pictures there are all different kinds of people with cars, houses, and money.

    1. I disagree, I feel that the American Dream is not just about cars, houses, and money. Its about family to and how you make the money to support them.

  9. I believe the american dream is out there; i don't think that everyone is capable of getting there. The system is set up so only a few can live at the top, the risers do exist but, they are becoming fewer and fewer. Therefore, the american dream is becoming exclusive to the exceptional people.

    1. well as you may know, any down home hike of their kind is perfectly capable of reaching the american dream. so i must disagree with your statement!!!!

  10. I believe everyone has the ability to obtain the "American dream". I think this because everyone has different ideas of what the american dream should be for them. The american dream could be to become richer, powerful, to have an "all american family" and anything else that betters their life. The reason I think everyone can obtain the american dream is because everyone can work toward superiority and bettering themselves even if they are dirt poor their idea of the american dream may just be to feel loved and be happy.

    1. I agree that the "American Dream" should not just be based off wealth and status. As long as someone is happy with themselves and their life, that is the real American Dream.

    2. I agree that everyone has a different variation of the American dream and that people can obtain their dream through work and trying to make themselves better.

  11. If everyone could live the American dream then we would not have poverty and such a high homeless population. Not all people have the opportunity for education and to be successful. There is not enough jobs for everyone, especially to make a living and support a family. I do believe that people can choose their own happiness though if it is considered the "American Dream" or not.

  12. i believe that the american dream is available to everyone but it may be more available to some people than others. some people are born with more wealth and it makes it easier to reach the american dream, while others that are less wealthy have to work harder for it and some people never reach it because they give up. any person can achieve the american dream, its just a matter of how hard they want to work for it!

  13. The American dream was not always available to others. It was once only offered to white men. Women, blacks and children fought very hard for rights. Only after the Constitution was amended did they receive rights. That was when the American dream started to really develop. It came about that people would move here for a better opportunity at life. They would come from all over the world to have a better chance at gaining a job so they could have a house and a family. I think now that everyone in America has rights, the American dream is available to all of us.

  14. I think that the American dream is available everyone. Everyone has an equal chance to achieve the American dream. They can obtain an education and work hard in their job on order to get to the places that they want to be in life. People may have been born in bad circumstances but they still have the same opportunity to get a house, good job and a cool car.

  15. I feel that this goal is available to all who put the work in to accomplish this "American Dream". The people today that are living the American Dream have this through their hard work and going out and getting what they want.

  16. I concluded that the American dream is not available for everyone. For those illegal immigrants that came from Mexico by jumping the border they have an American dream but they cannot necessarily achieve it. Many peoples American dream is money, yet why do we still have so many people in poverty or below poverty. Therefore not everyone can achieve their American dream. #Merica # AmericanNation #Indian #Stoker #Boss #FHHS #English

  17. I believe that the American dream is available to everyone but depending on environmental influences that dream can be harder to obtain. People who are in poverty may feel less likely to succeed, and the odds are stacked against them but depending on these surrounding factors you may have to work harder to obtain that dream. Even though in some situations the American dream may seem unobtainable to some, I believe that it is obtainable but not that it will be easy to get there. I believe that with enough hard work anyone can reach that American dream, it may come easier to some than others but if it's what you really want and you work for it I believe that it is possible.

  19. Posted by Melanie Bruce -- The American dream is not available to everyone because some people simply do not have the means to obtain it. While everyone has a different dream, as shown in the pictures, in today's society it is nearly impossible to obtain your dreams without money or status. In Capitalist society, there are haves and have-nots. The haves do not have to work very hard to obtain their dream, while the have-nots must work extremely hard to simply make ends meet. (And I would deem it safe to say that barely scraping by in life does not qualify as obtaining the American dream.) A common dream shared by the majority of those who have came to this country is to find economic stability and equal treatment. If we say this is the definition of the American dream, then only upper class whites born in this country are capable of obtaining the American dream. Anyone straying from this standard usually faces discrimination in one form or another, thus making the "typical" American dream impossible. People are born into and grow into situations beyond their control. Things happen that people are unable to overcome.
